It is not always practical to achieve everything that we would like to, but with your help we can reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible.

We recycle as much of our waste as we are able. We have several bins around the centre for paper, cans, glass, cardboard and some plastics. We also have a large composting area for our kitchen waste.

We use as many recycled and eco-friendly products throughout the centre as possible. In the office we use recycled paper, try to print on both sides and reuse paper for notes. In the house our toilet roll and hand towels are recycled and we use cleaning products and chemicals which have a low impact on the environment. Any disposable cutlery or plates are either recycled or biodegradable.

Where possible we repair our activity equipment and the contents of the house rather than throw things away as soon as they are damaged. However, whilst some things may look well worn, safety is our first priority.

Due to the nature and age of Dunolly House, energy efficiency can be difficult. We have replaced all incandescent light bulbs with low energy bulbs and ensure that all new electrical equipment bought has a high energy efficiency rating.

Where they are available, we use local suppliers for all our food, cleaning products and office materials, and opt for local fruit and seasonal vegetables.
ENVIRONMENT
At Dunolly we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of the centre.
