UKCC Level 1 training and assessment
Level one training and assessment is the entry point for most coaches in all paddlesport disciplines. Prior to starting the course you must be registered with either the SCA, WCA or BCU, and hold a 2 star award. In order for your qualification to be valid you must also complete the foundation rescue and training course. This four day course costs £245 and includes lunch. Next Course 21st - 25th January 2013.
Foundation Rescue and Training Course
Whilst being a standalone course, this foundation is also a prerequisite for paddlesport coach qualifications. This 8 hour course costs £70 and includes lunch. Next Course 6th November 2012.
Introduction to moving water Kayak
We will take your existing paddling skills and transfer them to moving water. In a super relaxed informative atmosphere you will learn the basics of breaking in, breaking out, ferry gliding and river running. At the end of the day you will leave with a better understanding and more confidence in a moving water environment.
Experience and Prerequisite Days
We all know how hard it can be sometimes to find time to meet the prerequisites for the training and assessment courses, whether it is because of your location, finding time, no one to go out with out or a combination of the 3!
These days are designed to get you up to the standard of assessments and meet the prerequisites, upping your personal skills and getting the relevant journeys and experience. We will also provide you with the relevant information and a training plan of where to go next
White Water Improvers
If you have experienced grade II/III rivers then you are now a white water improver. We will improve your basic skills and progress you to being comfortable running grade III white water, possibly with drops of IV.
Our coaches will refine you boat control and make manoeuvres more efficient. This will be through learning to apply well timed and effective strokes and reading the rapids correctly.
We will also cover White water safety and the logistics of running rivers.
