Raft Guide Training Course
The 6 day Raft Guide Training course from the Scottish Rafting Association is one of the leading raft guide qualifications in the world. The program is mostly practical, with the majority of the time spent on the river learning raft guiding skills, white water safety and rescue and river hydrology. There are also a number of evening seminars to reinforce the areas covered during the days.
To get the maximum from the course some previous experience in a white water environment is helpful.
The course starts at 7pm on the first evening and finishes at the end of the afternoon on the final day. The cost is £460 for the 6 days. This includes the hire of wetsuits and personal safety equipment if required. If you wish fully catered accommodation this can be booked for £640 for the whole course.

Raft Improver Course
Since we know it can be hard to get guiding experience in a raft we have a weekend course that is an excellent introduction to white water rafting guiding skills. The Raft Improver course is a good refresher if you haven't guided in a while or is an ideal starting point for learning to be a raft guide.
The courses start with a seminar on the first evening, predominantly on the subject of river reading skills and other relevant theory, but also with an introduction to the trainers and the rest of the group. Over the rest of the weekend we give you a background to safety and rescue techniques, available qualifications and etiquette. We will try to get onto a selection of rivers to give you as much experience as possible, but as ever in Scotland we have to work around weather conditions and therefore water levels at the time of the course.
For only £195 per person we provide fully catered accommodation for the 2 days, expert tuition on the water, and 2 evening seminars. The courses start at 6.30pm on the first night (usually Friday) and runs until approximately 5pm on the second day. Please note we do not provide an evening meal on the first night so ensure you have eaten before you come.
