Residential Activity Courses
We offer a selection of activities which cover a variety of educational subjects (see below). We have a good knowledge of what groupings of activities work together to give a balance of physical and educational elements, but we would like your input for your programme. Prior to your arrival, we can visit your school and meet the teaching staff to discuss your needs and interests.
RIVER RAFTING
The children are taken on a great adventure down the River Tay. This activity offers the excitement of the sport and the educational potential of the connection with the geography, geology, fauna and flora of the area. We offer half day sessions. |
DUCKYING
Duckying is a bit more of a challenge than river rafting. It involves a 2-person inflatable canoe trip down the river. Accompanied by an instructor. |
HIGH ROPES AND CLIMBING
This is a purpose built structure which is positioned within the grounds of the centre. It rises to 45 feet and has a number of low and high elements which are superb fun to try. The children are roped up with harness and a helmet to protect them so there is no danger of falling. |
GORGE WALKING
You want to get wet? This is an adventure up a hill by the watery route. Our instructors have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves, so watch out! The challenge is to reach the top. Teamwork, camouflage, facepaint, small waterfalls and swim pools all combine to make this a very rewarding activity. |
ARCHERY
With the help of top class equipment and our considerate instructors, you will start from knowing nothing to feeling in control of what you are doing. Once you can hit the boss consistently then the games will commence. |
MOUNTAIN BIKES
This half-day activity will follow an easy off-road route. You will pass many important historical and environmental sites which will give your group more of an understanding of Aberfeldy and its surrounding area. |
ORIENTEERING
A great sport for developing self reliance and confidence. The course size and safety allows us to teach even the youngest of children the art of basic navigation using both map and compass. |
MINIBEAST HUNTING
This concerns the enviroment in which we live. The session is designed to make children think about what is around them and how it is being affected by human impact. Creepie crawlies everywhere! |
MASSACRE OF GLENCOE
We bring the history of our area to life by acting out the lives of the people concerned with this particular time in Scottish history. Over a five-year period we see the development of the story until its final conclusion..... the massacre itself. |
MENZIES CASTLE VISIT
A visit to this castle really is stepping back in time. It gives an easy insight via our very descriptive instructors as to what life was actually like. The tools of life and battle together as it would have been. Turrets and gun holes, water ducts and ghostie, divining rods and bodies! |
NATURE WALKS & LOW LEVEL HILL WALKING
The children love combining the many nature games we play to make them aware of their surroundings. The advantage of a hill walk, and the achievement of reaching the top, all add to the overall experience. This activity is a relaxing half-day which allows instructors and children to bond well through informal chat. |
PERSONAL & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
This aspect is part of all our sessions, but there are certain activities which lend themselves well to it. The instructor will be with the same group of children all week which allows a fantastic bond to be created. This, along with introductory 'get to know you sessions' and specific teambuilding sessions, mean that the children will not just remember the activities, but the people as well. |
DISCO & BARBECUE
The residential group, will as part of their last evening with us, be allowed to let their hair down. We will have a barbecue, weather permitting, followed by the Dunolly Disco. Themes always play a part and participation by staff is guaranteed to raise a smile. We have the pictures to prove it! |
